Dal 2 aprile al 16 maggio, la Galleria d’arte moderna e contemporanea di Viareggio, ospita una mostra che celebra un grande regista del cinema italiano: MARIO MONICELLI. Un’ installazione dell’artista Chiara Rapaccini (in arte RAP, compagna di una vita di Monicelli) con il fotografo Andrea Vierucci. Chiara ha recuperato le fotografie dell’archivio privato del regista, scattate dai più grandi fotografi di scena sui set di molti sui capolavori tra gli anni ‘60 e ’90. Ha lavorato con acrilico e punta secca sulle immagini, le ha stampate su grandi lenzuoli di lino, per poi intervenire nuovamente con pennello e ricamo. Con la tecnica del fumetto e della scrittura libera, ha “dialogato” con i protagonisti del grande cinema italiano, Sordi, Totò, la Magnani, Mastroianni dando vita così a dei “Fantasmi” fluttuanti che poi Andrea Vierucci ha fotografato all’interno di un’architettura post industriale dall’atmosfera spettrale e monumentale.

AN EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO MARIO MONICELLI AT LUCCA FILM FESTIVAL – EUROPACINEMA

From the 2nd of April to the 16th of May the Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery of Viareggio will host an exhibition to celebrate a great Italian director: Mario Monicelli.
An array by Chiara Rapaccini (also known as RAP, Monicelli’s companion of a lifetime) with the participation of photographer Andrea Vierucci.
Chiara took the pictures – taken by the greatest movie photographers on the sets of many of Monicelli’s masterpieces between the Sixties and the Nineties – from the director’s private archives. She worked on the images with acrylic paint and drypoint, printed them on big linen sheets and then added some finishing touches with brushes and embroidery. Through cartoon tecnique and free writing she had a “conversation” with the greatest personalities in the Italian movie industry: Alberto Sordi, Totò, Anna Magnani, Marcello Mastroianni, giving life to fluctuating “Ghosts” that Andrea Vierucci photographed in a spectral and monumental post-industrial architecture.
